         <description><![CDATA[MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Lane Community  College goalkeepers Erin Lewis and Mallory Branch recorded shutouts in  the Titans’ first two women’s soccer victories of the season this week.
On Tuesday, Bronte Jorgenson’s goal off an  assist from Katie Bidwell gave LCC a 1-0 victory over Skagit Valley with  Lewis in goal.
Then Wednesday, Bidwell, Jorgenson, Bre  Garcia and Sara Jones each scored in a 4-0 win over Wenatchee Valley  with Branch as the keeper.

         <description><![CDATA[SALEM — Lane Community College opened its  cross country season on Saturday with a second-place finish by its  women’s team and a third-place finish by its men’s team at the Corban  Invitational.
The Titan women were led by Rachel Jensen,  who came in third on the 3,000-meter course. In the men’s 5K race, Jacob  Berkner, Aria Kiani and Michael Bellamy led the way for LCC, finishing  in eighth, 10th and 12th place, respectively.]]></description>

Lane's women, with 274 points, cruised past the competition, winning    by 93 points over second place Clackamas.
Clackamas' Jennifer Roberts was the women's high point scorer with 35  1/2 points.

         <description><![CDATA[Chris Reed threw a five-hit shutout to lead   Lane Community College to a 1-0 win over Southwestern Oregon Community   College to complete a doubleheader sweep for the Titans.
Reed struck out six and got the offense he   needed in the second inning when Joe Offer tripled and scored on a   sacrifice fly by Matt Myrmo.
Lane won the opener 7-4. Tyler Connor broke   a 4-4 tie with a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh   inning.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[OREGON CITY — Christina Grizzel-Hardie won   four events to lead the Lane Community College women to a win at the   Clackamas Three-Way track and field meet Saturday afternoon.
Grizzel-Hardie won the hammer with a   personal-best throw of 135 feet, 9 inches. She also won the javelin   (139-2), discus (126-0) and shot put (39-5) to help the Titans score   177 1/2 points.
Clackamas was third with 111 and Clark   College was third at 64 1/2.

Jordan Parker finished third at  15-11, as the Titans finished with 118 points. Concordia won the meet  with 214.

         <description><![CDATA[OREGON CITY — Lane Community  College swept the distance medleys and won both the men’s and women’s  team titles at the Northwest Relays at Oregon City High School on Friday  night.
The Lane women won the meet with  141 points and got victories in the 100 hurdles (16.27 seconds) and high  jump (4-11 3/4) from Samantha Poppe.
The men won with 109 points. Cesar  Perez (9:03.77) and Sterling Teall (9:20.13) went 1-2 in the 3,000  meters.

         <description><![CDATA[OREGON CITY — MaCayla Claver covered the  5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 24 seconds to finish second and lead  Lane Community College to the women’s title at the NWAACC Southern  Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Clackamas Community  College.
The Titans won the women’s title with 31  points, and Mount Hood was second with 60.

Lane Community College        's Travis Stevens nipped the University of Oregon Club team's  John Boosinger at the finish line to win the       college        men's race Saturday at the Northwest Cross Country Classic at        Lane       .

Stevens and Boosinger each had a time of 21 minutes, 10 seconds on the  6,400-meter course.

         <title><![CDATA[LCC runners receive all-American honors]]></title>

Lane Community College runners Leah Twombly, Lukas Fenley and Travis Stevens were named all-Americans after finishing in the top seven at the NWAACC Cross Country Championship. 

In addition, Twombly, a sophomore from Siuslaw High School, and Gukas Fenley, a sophomore from Thurston, received the       Titans       ' most outstanding runner awards.       

Stevens is a freshman from Siuslaw High School.

         <description><![CDATA[OREGON CITY - Leah Twombly won the women's 5,000-meter race, and the Lane Community College cross country teams swept the team titles at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Southern Region Championships Saturday at Clackamas.

The Lane women had five runners finish in the top 10 to win with 29 points. Clackamas was second with 66 points.       

Led by the 2-3 finish of Travis Stevens and Lukas Fenley, the       Titan       men won with 37 points.

         <description><![CDATA[SALEM - Lane's men's and women's teams each finished eighth Saturday at the Willamette Invitational.       

Lukas Fenley finished 40th overall and 22nd among college runners in 26 minutes, 2.33 seconds over 8,000 meters for the       Titans       , who had 213 points. Portland won with 25 points.       

Lane's Leah Twombly was 45th overall and 35th among college runners in the 5,000-meter women's race in 19:18.59. Lane had 271 points in the team race, which Santa Clara won with 57 points.    ...]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Former Sheldon star Chris Vitus has transferred to Lane Community College after turning down the opportunity to play pro baseball for the second year in a row.       

Vitus was drafted in the 48th round of the major-league draft in June by Anaheim, but turned down the Angels for the second year in a row. Anaheim drafted Vitus in the 49th round of the 2007 draft out of Sheldon.

Several of the state's top high school boys and girls runners will gather at Lane Community College on Saturday for the Northwest Cross Country Classic. 

There will be five races over the 5,000-meter course.       

A community fun run begins at 10 a.m., followed by the JV girls at 11:30 a.m., JV boys at 12:15 p.m., varsity girls at 1 p.m. and varsity boys at 1:45 p.m.

         <description><![CDATA[Former Lane Community College coach Donny Harrel has been hired by Seattle University as head baseball coach to restart the program after two decades.       

Harrel, who served as an assistant at Washington the past four years, will begin the program in the 2009-10 season. The school is in the reclassification process toward NCAA Division I status.
